Fresh Maine Lobster
at home & on our pier
A visit to Beal's Lobster Pier is always a highlight — no matter the season.
There’s nothing like a trip to Maine in the summer – and a visit to Beal’s is a must for those looking for an authentic lobster pier experience and the freshest seafood one can find. At our working lobster pier in Southwest Harbor, Maine, you and your family will have a blast watching the boats sail in and the lobstermen unload fresh Maine lobster. Hear the creak of rope on the moorings. Catch the scent of saltwater on the breeze, and enjoy the waterfront view.
Our restaurant is closed from October to May, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy fresh from the pier lobster from Maine’s pristine coast. Even when Maine is cold enough to freeze our beards and eyelashes, we’re still hard at work to deliver live lobsters, fresh and frozen lobster meat, and more fresh Maine seafood straight to your doorstep.
eat, drink & be messy.™️
Maine has so much to offer — even in the off season.
Beal's at Home
What others say…
We just returned from Bar Harbor (9/26/22 - 9/30/22) and Beal's took home several awards from us: 1) Best overall experience, 2) best lobster, and 3) best lobster mac & cheese. We tried Beal's, Thurston's, and Trenton Bridge -- while all were good, Beal's was REALLY good. The service/friendliness, the atmosphere, the food all exceptional. And that Lobster Mac & Cheese WOW, just WOW! We have never seen/had anything like that previously, and it was INCREDIBLE!
Going along with the majority, this place is as authentic as it gets. You walk in the front door and order at the counter with a 12' open top tank to pick a lobster from. I chose a pound of mussels which were all delivered without a single "closed" (dead) one in the bunch. Locally sourced. Cathy had been looking where to get an authentic lobster roll and this place delivered. Not the bits and pieces on a Safeway hot dog bun but large chunks on a double sized half-cut through piece of basically Texas toast. The team for ordering and bringing out the food to your table were efficient and pleasant. Lots of seating ; picnic tables outdoors, comfortable tables under the tent, and high top chairs along a walkway facing the harbor.
So don't waste your money on in-town restaurants offering fresh lobster and rolls... Beal's the real place to go.... Gotta look for it but we'll worth the search!
Of note, don't wait for dinner time.... Plan to go around 3pm and no problem with lines or seating.
A great place to hit when visiting Mount Desert Island. At peak dinner hours, the line was a little long, but moved fast. They keep the live lobster in a tank and you can purchase one to bring home, or select one for them to boil whole right there for you. Pretty wild for a tourist like me! The food was really tasty and the views couldn't be beat. A little chilly on the deck when the breeze comes through but still worth it.
